A Course in Weight Loss | Love It! Enjoy my review for Hay House | What Have You Got To Lose??

From the age of 13, my own relationship with food has been love/hate. I tried endless diets and non-stop exercise, all done from a space of low self worth. This type of motivation is unsustainable and draining. In physical and spiritual exhaustion, I finally made the decision to love myself enough to interrupt the old patterns of fear and self loathing, replacing them with kindness & compassion. In Marianne Williamson's newest book, "A Course in Weight Loss," she asks us to create a new kind of behavior through the processes offered, rather than the old patterns of self-destruction. "It serves you at this point to understand the power of making ritual. This course is seeking a lot of you...from making lists, to writing out feelings, to procuring new items, to doing ceremony, and so forth. It is very much a to-do kind of book."

It was not until I had a real relationship with my Self, one that was filled with nurturing, compassion and love, that my body would thrive in health and vitality. With the reading of this wonderful book, I've also reinstated a forgotten family ritual, blessing my food, thanking all who have helped to bring it to my table. In doing this I eat slower, relishing and tasting my food, rather than gobbling it down in front of my computer!

As we shift our attitude towards food to a sacred one, we take care of our bodies so we can be of better service for the world, becoming a conduit of joy. As we deepen our relationship with God and ourselves, we begin to see our bodies as a temple for our soul, a sacred container for our spirit. Marianne writes, "You have placed your problems in Divine hands, and Divine power is transforming you. That is why you are turning every step of your rebuilding process into a sacred experience. You're taking every step with God in mind." Give it a try, what have you got to lose?

A special thanks for this free book to review from Hay House!!!

Namaste,
Sarah

Enjoy My Review for Hay House | The Power of Intention Gift Edition by Wayne Dyer

"The Power of Intention" took me longer to read than I expected. Not because it was a slow read but because I wanted to bask in the beautiful writing, contemplating and applying the teachings day by day, chapter by chapter. The Power of Intention, with its stunning artwork in the new gift edition, refers to "Intention" as an invisible force that we all have the ability to co-create with if we choose.

Recently in the airport I had an opportunity to apply Dr. dyer's writings. With airport amping up their security, the tension could be felt and seen in the faces of travelers. I even had a few people ask me beforehand, "aren't you worried about all the new scanners and security measures airports are using?" As I stepped into the line for security I put to practice "seeing every encounter as a holy one." Dyer writes, " As you change your thought patterns to raise your energy vibrations, and reduce the demands of your ego, (in this case it would look like fear) you'll begin developing a reverent or holy relationship with others." He also writes, "When I feel myself connected to others and radiate the energy of a holy relationship, people react with kindness and go out of their way to assist me with my intentions." As I piled my clear zip loc bags, shoes, watch and belongings in the trays, I focused on the fact that everyone here just wants this to go smoothly. By the time I was through the busy line I had the airport security smiling and saying, "I wish everyone was a cheerful as you. We could use a little more of that around here!"

Written in three parts, the first segment explains what intention is and is not, with Dr Dyer sharing stories of his connections and interactions using the "Power of Intention" on his journey. Part 2 offers a guide with detailed ideas and techniques to use these practices in your everyday life. This insightful book is accessible even if you have not had read Dr. Dyer's previous work, "Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life" or "Excuses Be Gone." The final section shares Wayne's inspirational ideas of what "a portrait of a person connected to the field looks like or as he describes them, " a connector." "To connectors it all seems so simple. Keep your thoughts on what you intend to create. Stay consistently matched up to the field of intention, and then watch for the clues that what you're summoning from the all creative Source is arriving in your life."

A powerful book that's meant to be read or referred to time and again. I am honored and humbled to have received this free book from Hay House. Thank you!

Enjoy My Review For Hay House and Getting Into The Vortex

A few weeks ago I wasn't really interested in another meditation tool, but since I am a huge fan of Abraham_Hicks I gave it a try. "Getting Into The Vortex" has been my main focus over my other meditation practices for the past two weeks. As a mother, parent, teacher and TV producer I can say that it is helping me stay clear in the chaos. Recently, when I returned home after teaching all day and my husband was watching our son, seeing blue marker all over the carpet and shades of blue still on my son, didn't send me onto an old familiar pattern of judgment or blame. I was reminded of a part in the book that says," True freedom is found in the absence of resistance. It is about being able to feel good and to be inside your Vortex regardless of the situations that surround you. True freedom is the discovery of maintaining unconditional love - of being able to maintain your "in the Vortex" position regardless of conditions." With a smile at the scene in front of me, I told my tired husband to take a break, hugged our blue child and cleaned the carpet after we all settled in.

Getting Into the Vortex includes a user guide book and a mediation CD with four categories: General Well-Being, Financial Well_Being, Physical Well_Being and Relationships Well_Being. Esther's soothing words and voice feels like a cozy warm blanket of comfort. This tool is in perfect alignment with what I teach as a yoga instructor and yet simplified the entire process of connecting to your breath. "Day by day as you relax and breathe, your natural Well-Being will dominate until your stable footing will become unshakable."

I not only use this as I sit quietly, but also downloaded it on my IPod and listen to it as I am at the grocery store, watching my son play trains at the train store and even while I practice yoga.
"Be easy as you find the rhythm of your body: and enjoy long deep breaths, in and out, as you hear our words. It isn't necessary that you concentrate. and there is nothing that you need remember: just relax, breathe and enjoy." This is great for a beginner and by far the most practical and easiest tool that Abraham _Hicks has created!

Fun Happy Yoga Testimonial!

I am honored to share this wonderful testimonial from my last PlayShop at the YogAsylum in Brookfield! Blessings to all of you who shared...

"Your light hearted style of guidance through the class kept reminding me to let go. I was very aware of how tense with concentration I became in some postures. Your use of humor brought back the childhood love of testing my boundaries. I enjoyed smiling and even laughing through a challenging practice. Thank you!" ~ Leola
